Golf For One

Lots of times we get singles and twosomes showing up on the golf course. I get it… you want to play golf and you couldn’t find a game. But if the golf course is crowded, keep an open mind about joining another group. Many times the golf professional or the person at the check-in desk will automatically pair you with another group if you are by yourself or you are a twosome. Playing by yourself or as a twosome won’t get you around the course any faster, make your round feel as if it has taken an eternity and it may take a tee time away from other eager golfers. Make sure when you book your tee time, you tell the person at the golf course making your reservation that you are by yourself or with only one other golfer. They can put you with another group or another twosome. Who knows? You may end up with a great round of golf and some new friends who share your passion for the game of golf!

The Good Golf Partner

July 28, 2010 :: Posted by - Terry :: Category - Golf Etiquette

When we talk about the etiquette of golf, there really isn’t too much that is all that different from etiquette in our daily lives.  Treat others as you want to be treated!  But all too often, as in life, golfers get so absorbed in this wonderful game, they lose their manners!  If you are the guy/gal at the cocktail party talking too loud or spilling your drink on others as you bully your way to the buffet, chances are, you won’t be invited back.  Guess what, same goes for the golf course.   I came across this really funny video I thought might be a good primer for basic golf course etiquette!  Thanks to Bill Pennington and The NYT for this great piece!
